We are very excited to announce our direct route to San Juan, Puerto Rico, a destination known for its tropical beauty and vibrant culture. With this launch, the Delta-Aeromexico Alliance continues to strengthen connectivity in more key destinations between Mexico and the United States.
Giancarlo Mulinelli, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Aeromexico.
Puerto Rico is famous for its people’s warmth, delicious cuisine, and idyllic beaches. Some of its main tourist attractions include Old San Juan, Flamenco Beach, and El Yunque National Forest.
Puerto Rico continues to position itself as the ideal destination in the Caribbean. The opening of a new direct connection expands the investment landscape and allows us to continue showcasing the many tourist attractions and business opportunities we offer. This route, whose direct economic impact is estimated at $13.5 million per year, further strengthens the commercial ties between Mexico and Puerto Rico, which now exceed $1.5 billion annually. I am pleased to see this new route become a reality, one that had been attempted for years and that we were able to bring to fruition. This announcement is the result of our initial efforts as governor; the visit to FITUR generated not only this new route but also other major initiatives that will soon be revealed.
Jenniffer Gonzalez Colon, Governor of Puerto Rico.
This new service adds to the series of route launches that Aeromexico has carried out since 2024 and so far in 2025, through which it has reached new destinations in the United States such as Atlanta, Boston, Washington DC, Tampa, Phoenix, and Philadelphia, among others. San Juan, Puerto Rico will be Aeromexico´s 27th city served in the United States.
Currently, the Delta-Aeromexico alliance jointly operates over 60 routes between the two countries, with over 90 daily flights, and has transported more than 50 million passengers since 2017.
